Sketchfest 2012 will be coming to a close this coming weekend with four stages full of comedy for just four more nights.
Chicago’s Sketchfest has been highlighting the very best local, national, and international/Canadian sketch comedy talent for eleven straight years. With 162 performances from 138 groups, it’s hard to give every group their due, but 3rdCityComedy is here to help put the focus on just of few of these performers and give you an idea of who to keep your eye on this weekend.
Where else could we start, but with one of our own, Lepe and the Salsation Theatre Company, “Comedy with a Latin Flavor!” You’ll be able to catch Miguel and the rest of the group on Saturday January 14th at 6PM at 1225 W Belmont in Chicago. Here’s the cast:
Lepe
Horatio Ramirez
Matthew Montalvo
Mary Zamaitis
Rose Guccione
Joy Valdez
If you’re still craving more comedy after Salsation, stick around for Stir Friday Night! at 7:00pm that same night. SFN is Chicago’s very own Asian American sketch comedy group featuring a friend of 3rdCityComedy, Gilbert Galon.
Leading off the final night of Sketchfest 11 is another friend of 3rdCityComedy, Chris Redd and Electric Fantasy. You can catch them at 3pm on Sunday January 15th and you definitely should. Chris is the busiest guy in comedy and it’s worth the price of admission to see how all his work is paying off on Sunday.
On Sunday as well, you can step out for a late lunch after Electric Fantasy and come back just in time to catch Quixotic at 6 o’clock. Second City Conservatory classmate of 3rdCity’s Jordan Greenberg, Robin Trevino Delgatto has already had one great performance at Sketchfest and you’ve got one last chance to see him as Quixotic has their debut this year.
Keep an eye out for 3rdCityComedy in the upcoming weeks and in the meantime, get your sketch comedy fill at Chicago’s Sketchfest 2011!
